WACO — Baylor scored five goals in the second half to pull away from UTSA and score an 8-0 victory at Betty Lou Mays Field in the final match of the Baylor Tournament.
The contest was the third of the season for the Roadrunners (0-6-1) against a member of the Big 12 Conference. Michelle Cole started the match in goal and made three saves, while Katherine Tesno logged five stops in the final 45 minutes.
Following the contest, Sabrina Gonzalez and Kauwela Neal were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Meanwhile, Bri Campos and Ashley York each recorded a pair of goals for the Bears (3-4-1), who won their second match of the weekend. In addition, Sarah King registered four points with a goal and two assists.
Campos converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute for the first goal of the match before Lauren Piercy and York found the back of the net in the 26th and 41st minute, respectively, for a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, McKenna Martin opened the scoring in the 48th minute and Baylor would add four more goals over the next 17 minutes to blow the game open and the Bears went on to take the 8-0 final.
The Roadrunners close non-conference play with a 1 p.m. match next Sunday, Sept. 20 at TCU (4-4).
