Perez earns 2015 All-Academic honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Victor Perez earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Friday.

Perez, who maintains a 3.47 GPA in electrical engineering and is a member of the honors college, placed third in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 194-10 (59.38m) and fifth in the discus (159-8/48.66m) in helping UTSA win this year's Conference USA Outdoor Championships and the San Antonio native went on to compete at the NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds in the hammer. He placed fifth in weight throw with measurement of 55-1 ½ (16.80m) at February's indoor league meet.

To qualify, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and met at least one of two athletics standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
