TUCSON, Ariz. — Jesse Baker was tabbed a second-team Louisville Slugger All-American, Collegiate Baseball announced announced on Thursday.
Baker, a junior second baseman/outfielder, is the program’s third-ever All-American and first since 2008 when outfielder Michael Rockett was tabbed a NCBWA second-teamer and Louisville Slugger third-teamer.
The first-team All-Conference USA performer led the club in hits (71), doubles (21), home runs (15), RBIs (44), total bases (137) and slugging percentage (.637) and he added 42 runs and three stolen bases to go along with a .330 batting average.
The junior second baseman ranks among the top in the league in slugging percentage, doubles, home runs, batting average and hits. He also ranks 15th in the NCAA in home runs, 23rd in total bases, 27th in doubles and 30th in slugging.
The Brenham native was one of four players in C-USA to be named a Louisville Slugger All-American, as Southern Miss pitcher James McMahon joined Baker on the second team, while Florida Atlantic third baseman Ricky Santiago and outfielder Brandon Sanger garnered third-team honors.
