IRVING — John Bormann was one of 12 student-athletes named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league office announced on Monday.
The Seguin native is a real estate finance & development major who boasts a 3.82 GPA. This is the third consecutive year that Bormann was named to a conference all-academic team.
Bormann, who also was awarded a C-USA Academic Medal last month, also has been a member of the league’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll, as well as UTSA's President's or Dean’s List every semester.
The senior catcher is a three‐time Johnny Bench Award Watch List member (2013-15) who leads the circuit with five pickoffs in addition to throwing out 18 attempted base stealers. He is batting .268 with 13 doubles, four home runs and 32 RBIs this spring.
No. 5 seed UTSA (32-23) will take on fourth-seeded Middle Tennessee (30-25) at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in the opening game of the C-USA Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss.
