SAN ANTONIO — Nikki Long tied for fourth place to lead the Roadrunners at the UTSA Matchup held Sunday at Briggs Ranch Golf Club (6,428 yards/par 72).
Long opened with a 2-over-par 74 in the morning and bettered that by three shots with a 1-under 71 in the afternoon to lead UTSA at their second home tournament of the season. The freshman from San Antonio Johnson High School ended up in a tie for fourth with Julia Beck of Texas at 1-over 145.
Aimee Ponte carded a pair of 75s to finish in a tie for 10th at 6-over 150, while Brogan Townend was two strokes behind her sophomore teammate in a tie for 12th at 152 after the junior from England turned in rounds of 75 and 77.
Libby Thomas and Becky McGeehan rounded out the UTSA lineup in 14th (7-76-155) and 15th (78-80—158), respectively.
No. 27 Baylor claimed the team title with a 286-285—571 ahead of No. 44 Texas (290-291—581) and UTSA (302-299—601).
Hayley Davis of Baylor was the individual finisher after firing a 67-70—137.
The Roadrunners will travel to the Metroplex on April 10-11 to compete in the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational.
