HOUSTON — UTSA received a pair of winning performances and two other podium finishes to highlight Saturday's action at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight.

Stephanie Wangui won the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 2:08.44. The junior from Leander shaved more than a second off her previous PR in topping the field of 25 middle distance runners and the performance vaulted her to the top of the Conference USA leaderboard. She now ranks fifth on the program's all-time performers chart.

Meanwhile, Whitney Flannel also was victorious in the high jump. The senior from West Columbia cleared 5-9 ¼ (1.76m) to top the field of 23. It was her second gold medal of the campaign and fifth top-three effort in six outings this spring.

The Roadrunners saw two other athletes earn medals at the one-day meet.

Emily Perez was runner-up in 5k and the top collegian after crossing the finish line in 17:40.51, while Evelyn Clark placed third in the 400m with career-best clocking of 55.01.

UTSA will return to action next Saturday, May 2, at the Longhorns Invitational in Austin. The meet will be the team's final tune-up for this year's Conference USA Championships.
