Roadrunners to welcome Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Tuesday night affair

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will complete a home-and-home series with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday when the Roadrunners welcome the Islanders to the Bird Bath for a 6 p.m. contest.

UTSA (23-17) is coming off Sunday's 7-1 victory at No. 16 Rice. Chance Kirby hurled his first complete game of the season in his third start of the year. The freshman right-hander struck out a career-best nine and allowed only one run on seven hits and did not issue a walk en route to earning Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday.

The Roadrunners continue to pound out doubles and home runs, as they recorded four of each over the weekend. UTSA ranks 13th in the NCAA in doubles (88) and 31st in home runs (33).

Meanwhile, Tyler Straub continues to sit atop the Roadrunners stat sheet. The junior has tallied 41 hits, including eight doubles and two home runs. Straub also has scored 19 runs, stolen eight bases and driven in 19 runs.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (19-16) travels to the Alamo City following a 2-0 loss to New Orleans in Southland Conference action, which snapped its six-game winning streak.

Leading the way for the Islanders is Jordan Lee. The senior leads the season box score with a .343 batting average in addition to pacing the team in hits (46), runs (29), doubles (8) and home runs (3). He also is slugging .515 and owns a .418 on base percentage.

UTSA leads the all-time series, 30-22, including a 4-3 victory on March 3 in Corpus Christi. Logan Onda tossed 6.1 shutout innings for the win, scattering four hits to go along with six strikeouts.
