IRVING — After leading UTSA to a 7-1 victory at No. 16 Rice on Sunday, Chance Kirby was recognized as Conference USA’s Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Making his third start of the year, Kirby pitched his first complete game of the season. The right-hander allowed just one run on seven hits, struck out a career-best nine batters and did not issue a walk.
This marks the freshman's weekly honor from the conference.
UTSA (23-17) will return to Roadrunner Field on Tuesday when it welcomes Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (19-16) to town for a 6 p.m. contest.
