SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B hosted a Grand Opening Celebration in front of the first-ever UTSA Roadrunners Shop to open in San Antonio, located within the UTSA H-E-B at IH-10 and De Zavala Road.
In honor of the grand opening, the UTSA Pep Band and the UTSA Cheerleaders performed outside the 675-square-foot store. Rowdy the Roadrunner and H-E-Buddy even made special appearances during the festivities.
“H-E-B has always had a longstanding relationship with UTSA and we’re proud to be in Roadrunner country,” said Dya Campos, H-E-B Public Affairs Director and UTSA alumna. “We’re excited to be able to give our customers the opportunity to take their UTSA Roadrunner pride to the next level.”
The UTSA Roadrunner Shop is designed to be able to serve the students, faculty, staff, alumni and the many fans of the university. The in-store shop will carry men’s, women’s and children’s UTSA Roadrunner apparel, souvenirs and tailgating gear for game days.
“This shop is a win for our students, our university and our community,” said Lynn Hickey, UTSA Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics. “We are grateful for H-E-B and their continued support throughout the years.”
The UTSA Roadrunner Shop is the first-ever store to open in the San Antonio area and the second similar store to open inside an H-E-B. In 2013, a Baylor Bear Gear Shop opened its doors inside a Waco H-E-B store.
