SAN ANTONIO — UTSA dropped Saturday's series finale to Old Dominion by a score of 11-2.
The Roadrunners (21-15, 9-6 C-USA) scored only two runs in back-to-back innings, as Kevin Markham and John Bormann were the only players to cross home plate.
Markham scored in the sixth on C.J. Pickering’s RBI single, while Bormann scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.
Old Dominion (16-17, 4-10 C-USA) held UTSA scoreless behind the pitching performance of Adam Bainbridge. The southpaw earned the win in seven innings of work. Bainbridge struck out five, walked one and allowed two runs on five hits.
Meanwhile, Nolan Trabanino took the loss in 1.2 innings of work. The southpaw allowed five runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out two batters.
The visiting Monarchs scored five of its runs in the first two frames with another four in the fifth and sixth innings. The final two came in the ninth inning.
At the plate, Matt Hilston went 2-for-4 for the Roadrunners with a stolen base.
Six Monarchs notched multiple hits with leadoff batter P.J. Higgins going 3-for-6 with two home runs, two runs and three RBIs.
UTSA will face I-35 rival Texas State (16-17-1) for the final time this season on Tuesday, April 14. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
