Roadrunners to host No. 25 Florida Atlantic in three-game series this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — After playing five games in six days, UTSA will welcome No. 25 Florida Atlantic to the Bird Bath for a three-game set that will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Florida Atlantic will be the second ranked opponent the Roadrunners (14-11, 4-2 C-USA) have faced in the past week, as No. 1 Texas A&M came to town for a matchup on Tuesday night and left with an 11-1 decision. However, UTSA bounced back last night for a 6-5 victory against neighboring Incarnate Word.

Both teams head into the weekend series with identical 4-2 marks in league play, which is good for third in the conference standings.

The Roadrunners continue to pound out doubles, as they now have 61 on the season to lead the league and rank second amongst all Division I programs.

Head coach Jason Marshall will feature a different starting rotation for the weekend, as right-handed pitcher Aaron Burns (4-1, 1.16 ERA) will get the starting nod on Saturday afternoon. Brock Hartson (2-1, 3.72 ERA) will remains the Roadrunners’ Friday night starter, while Nolan Trabanino (0-4, 6.56 ERA) has moved to Sunday.

Florida Atlantic (20-5, 4-2 C-USA) comes to the Lone Star State off a series loss to Middle Tennessee. The Owls took the series opener, 4-2, but dropped the following two by scores of 5-3 and 7-6 in extra innings. Kyler Miller (3-1, 3.41 ERA), Drew Jackson (4-0, 0.72 ERA) and Brandon Rhodes (0-0, 3.38 ERA) will start for FAU.

UTSA leads the all-time series, 2-1.
