Middle Tennessee gets past UTSA on Sunday, 5-2

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA dropped a 5-2 decision on Sunday in the finale of its six-match home stand.

The Blue Raiders (16-3) swept all three doubles contests to take an early 1-0 lead against the Roadrunners (9-9).

Jesse Grace and Sarah Sediri came off the court with an 8-3 victory against Daniela Garcia-Diaz and Lina Hallgren at the No. 3 position and Middle Tennessee clinched the point when Brittany Huxley and Nayara Moraes downed Nicole Karaklis and Alena Shichkova at the second spot, 8-4.

The Blue Raiders then clinched their eighth consecutive victory after coming out on top in the first three completed singles matches.

UTSA's lone wins of the day came from Miriam Rosell Canudas and Hallgren.

Rosell Canudas defeated Tiffany William in straight sets on the first court (6-4, 6-3), while Hallgren rallied past Sediri in three frames (5-7, 6-3, 1-0 [10-6]) at the No. 5 slot in the lineup.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Friday, March 27, at FIU (6-6). First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT).
