UTSA to visit I-35 rival Texas State on Tuesday night

SAN ANTONIO — After coming off a series sweep of Conference USA foe Marshall, UTSA baseball team will trek north to take on I-35 rival Texas State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners (12-7) head to San Marcos with a 9-7 mark in non-conference contests this spring.

In the series opener against Marshall, Brock Hartson hurled 8.1 scoreless innings and he was named C-USA Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The right-hander allowed four hits, walked four and struck out six.

UTSA heads into the midweek contest batting .282 as a team and leaders in the league in doubles (53) and runners picked off (7). The Roadrunners also rank in the top-3 in slugging percentage, total bases, hit-by-pitch, sac flies and stolen bases. Amongst all NCAA teams, UTSA’s 53 doubles is also best for second in the nation.

Receiving the starting nod for the Roadrunners will be right-handed pitcher Boone Mokry. The senior last made an appearance against Houston Baptist where he logged five innings in a three-hit combined shutout to earn the win.

Texas State (8-10-1) welcomes the Roadrunners to Bobcat Ballpark following Sunday's 6-5 victory against Appalachian State, which extended its winning streak to three games.

The Bobcats lead the all-time series 52-30, but UTSA won the last meeting by a score of 7-2 on April 15, 2014.
