Roadrunners shut out Marshall on Friday morning, 2-0

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Brock Hartson and Logan Onda combined for UTSA's third shutout of the season in a 2-0 victory against Marshall on Friday morning at Epling Stadium.

Hartson (1-0) logged a season-high 8.1 innings and struck out six batters en route to his first decision in five starts this season. He scattered four hits and walked four. Meanwhile, Onda registered the final two outs for his first save of the spring.

The Roadrunners (9-7, 1-0 C-USA), who have not given up a run in their last 19 innings of play, did all their damage during in the third inning, as all nine batters made a plate appearance.

Logan Kinder reached on a error after bunting to lead off the frame and a wild pitch, sacrifice bunt and passed ball later brought him across home plate for the first score of the morning. Jesse Baker then scored after taking first on a two-out walk. After John Bormann kept the inning alive with an infield single, Baker scored on Geonte Jackson's single up the middle.

Trent Bowles was 3-for-4, while Kinder went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.

Marshall starter JD Hammer (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on five hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned five.
