BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Old Dominion knocked UTSA out of the Conference USA Tournament with a 63-49 victory on Thursday night.
Kamra King led all scorers with 14 points, her 20th game in double figures this season. The senior guard went 8-of-13 from the free throw line and 3-of-11 from the field. Meanwhile, Mathilde Hergott was the only other Roadrunner to score in double digits with 11 points, to go with two steals.
UTSA (16-15) shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the field and were held to 3-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc. The Roadrunners did not make a triple until the 15:19 mark in the second half as Carlie Heineman scored her first points of the night.
After the Roadrunners scored the opening basket of the game, UTSA never held a lead after. The score tied on two occasions as the Roadrunners managed to make it a one-point game twice.
UTSA headed into the locker room trailing the Monarchs 27-22 but were unable to overcome Old Dominions hot shooting. The Monarchs (19-11) shot 48.9 percent (23-of-47) from the field, the third highest shooting percentage allowed from an opponent this season.
Old Dominion also held a 44-26 advantage on the glass.
Jennie Simms led the Lady Monarchs with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting and 7-of-11 from the charity stripe.
