UTSA downs Louisiana Tech on Senior Day, 60-53

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA surged to a 60-53 Senior Day victory against Louisiana Tech on Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners (14-14, 9-7 C-USA) were led by their senior trio of Kamra King, Ashley Spaletta and Mannasha Bell.

King scored a team-high 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and a 10-of-18 effort from the charity stripe. The Norman, Okla., native also registered four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Meanwhile, Spaletta added six points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Bell chipped in with nine rebounds.

What started out as a low-scoring affair through much of the first stanza, exploded offensively after UTSA went on a 16-2 run to lead 33-19 at the half.

The Lady Techsters (14-14, 9-8 C-USA) went cold from the field, going scoreless for three-and-a-half minutes before Brandi Wingate snapped the scoring drought with 42 seconds remaining before intermission.

The Roadrunners spread the offense in the first 20 minutes, as seven of the 10 players who saw action scored points.

UTSA made the first two baskets of the second half to hold its largest lead of the game at 18, 37-19, but Louisiana Tech slowly made up the deficit to come within three at the 9:47 mark, 42-39.

However, the Roadrunners answered back with an 8-2 run to push their advantage to 50-41 and they never looked back.

UTSA will begin its final week of the regular season on Thursday, March 5, with a 7 p.m. contest at Rice (8-18, 3-12 C-USA).
