SAN ANTONIO — UTSA rallied from 3-1 deficit for a 4-3 victory against Lamar on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners fell behind after dropping the doubles point and the two of the first three singles matches that finished before posting wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 to even their record at 4-4 on the year.

Yannick Junger made it a 3-2 score when he dispatched Michael Feucht, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 2 singles, and No. 72-ranked Tomas Stillman evened the match by outlasting Nikita Lis, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, at the top spot.

The match came down to No. 6 singles, where UTSA’s Mark Ginting and Lamar’s Mikko Rajamaki battled to a third set. Ginting took the first one, 7-5, but Rajamaki answered with a 6-4 score in set two. The home side’s freshman from Jakarta, Indonesia, clinched the match with a 6-3 decision in the final set.

The Cardinals (5-3) took a 1-0 lead after Jeandr Hoogenboezem and Rajamaki teamed up for a 6-4 triumph against Tito Moreiras and Jake Rother at No. 3 doubles to clinch the point. Lamar also won at the top spot when Feucht and Lis beat Junger and Stillman, 6-2, while Diogo Casa and Joel Rubio sent the point to the deciding third court with a 6-4 decision against Juuso Laitinen and Benny Schweizer at No. 2.
