SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to extend its three-game winning streak when it hosts Charlotte in a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday at the Convocation Center.
The Roadrunners (13-10, 7-5 C-USA) are coming off Thursday's 72-67 come-from-behind victory against Old Dominion, which came into the contest ranked No. 41 in the RPI. Keon Lewis led UTSA's fourth double-digit comeback victory of the season with a game-high 21 points (14 in second half) on just seven shot attempts. The Seattle, Wash., native hit a pair of 3-pointers and connected on all nine of his free-throw attempts.
Lewis has been one of the best free-throw shooters in Conference USA over the past two seasons and he will enter Saturday’s game with an 82.5 percentage at the charity stripe this season, which ranks second in the circuit. His 141 free throws made lead the league and rank ninth nationally.
Meanwhile, the 49ers (10-14, 3-8 C-USA) will be looking to snap a two-game skid and they have lost six of their last eight contests overall. Charlotte features a balanced attack that includes seven players who average at least 7.5 points per outing, led by Torin Dorin’s 11.8. Pierriá Henry is one of the best all-around players in the league and he averages 9.9 points, 5.5 assists (2nd C-USA) and a conference-leading 2.7 steals per contest.
Charlotte has played many close games this season, as only one of its 14 losses has been by double digits.
UTSA won the only previous meeting with the 49ers, 85-77, on Jan. 11, 2014, in San Antonio.
