Roadrunners register four podium finishes at Howie Ryan Invitational & Multis

HOUSTON — UTSA racked up a total four podium finishes at this weekend's Howie Ryan Invitational and Multis.

Ty Anderson placed second in high jump with a clearance of 6-10 ¾ (2.10m) in his first collegiate meet, but he finished as the top collegian by two inches.

Meanwhile, the quartet of Dointe Robinson, Jurmarcus Shelvin, Keyunta Hayes and Christopher Hall earned a silver medal in the 1,600-meter relay after passing the baton in 3:18.27.

The Roadrunners also had a pair of third-place efforts.

Shelvin clocked a 49.70 in the 400m, while Andrew Akens registered a season-best measurement of 57-5 ½ (17.51m) in the shot put. It marked the eighth top-three finish in Akens last nine outings in his specialty event dating back to last season.

UTSA will return to action in two weeks at the Houston Tune-up, which is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13.
