UTSA to face Sam Houston State on Friday afternoon

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s tennis team will return to the road on Friday when it takes on former Southland Conference foe Sam Houston State at 1 p.m.

The Roadrunners (2-1), winners of two straight after dropping their season opener at then-No. 37 Houston, are coming off last Friday's home-opening 6-1 victory against Incarnate Word.

Nicole Karaklis, last week's Conference USA Player of the Week, ran her singles record to a perfect 3-0 with her straight-sets victory at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

Meanwhile, the Bearkats (0-2) were blanked by SMU in their last outing on Jan. 30.

UTSA beat Sam Houston State, 4-3, in the last meeting between the two squads on March 3, 2013.
