UTSA to welcome UAB to Alamo City for Saturday matchup

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to move up the Conference USA standings at 2 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts UAB at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners (10-9, 4-4 C-USA) are coming off a 69-58 victory against Middle Tennessee on Thursday night. Kaj-Björn Sherman paced the home squad, which shot 52.3 percent against one of the league’s best defensive teams, with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Jeromie Hill added his 14th career double-double with 18 points and a season-high 12 boards.

With the scoring effort, Hill (1,515 points/738 rebounds) joined Devin Brown as the only players in program history to total at least 1,500 points and 700 rebounds in a career.

Meanwhile, the Blazers (10-11, 6-2 C-USA) are coming off a 71-69 setback at UTEP on Thursday. UAB currently sits third in the C-USA standings despite losing four of five starters from last year’s team. Robert Brown leads the squad at 13.6 ponts per game and UAB features a total of seven players that average at least 6.3.
