UTSA to open home slate against Incarnate Word on Friday

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s tennis team will open its home schedule against Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. on Friday. The match, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, has been moved up due to forecasted inclement weather.

The Roadrunners (1-1), who did not play last weekend, won their last outing by a score of 5-2 at Lamar back on Jan. 18.

Nicole Karaklis was tabbed Conference USA Player of the Week on Jan. 19 after winning her singles match in the Jan. 18 season opener at No. 37 Houston and her singles and doubles contests at Lamar the following day. She will be facing her former school where she was an All-Lone Star Conference singles performer following the 2012-13 season.

UIW (0-2) has lost its two matches by identical 7-0 scores to Tulsa and UT Arlington to open the spring campaign.

UTSA swept the Cardinals last Feb. 8 in the previous meeting between the two schools that both are located in the Alamo City.
