Hill named Conference USA Player of the Week

IRVING — Jeromie Hill has been named Conference USA Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The Cairns, Australia, native paced UTSA in a pair of games last week as he averaged 27.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, while he shot 48.7 percent from the floor (19-of-39) and 47.1 percent from behind the arc (8-of-17).

Hill opened the week with a career-high 36 points to go along with eight boards last Thursday in the Roadrunners’ victory at Marshall. He went 13-of-22 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from downtown, along with six free throws en route to the highest single-game scoring effort by a Conference USA player this season and the most by a UTSA player in head coach Brooks Thompson’s tenure. He scored 23 points in the first half, which equaled the Thundering Herd’s total through the first 20 minutes, before adding another 13 in the second half as the Roadrunners won their third consecutive road game.

Against league-leading WKU two days later, Hill shrugged off early foul trouble to score 18 points and pull down another eight rebounds. In all, the big weekend helped the senior move up to fourth place on the school’s all-time scoring list and he now has 1,497 career points.

Hill and the Roadrunners (9-9, 3-4 C-USA) will return to the Convocation Center for a pair of games this week, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest against Middle Tennessee (12-8, 5-2 C-USA) on Thursday.
