IRVING — Nicole Karaklis was tabbed Conference USA Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Karaklis won three of her four matches (two singles/two doubles) during the opening weekend of the season, as UTSA split its two matches.
The junior from San Antonio picked up the Roadrunners' lone point at Saturday’s season-opening match at No. 37 Houston when she outlasted Rocio Martin in three sets (4-6, 7-6 [7-5], 7-5) at the No. 3 spot in the singles lineup.
She then won both her contests in Sunday’s 5-2 victory at Lamar.
Karaklis downed Carolina Maso in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) at No. 3 after teaming up with Lina Hallgren for a 7-6 (7-4) triumph against Hanna Elfving and Katya Lapayeva No. 3 doubles position.
UTSA will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it opens its home slate against Incarnate Word (0-1). First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
