SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will trek west to El Paso for a Saturday afternoon matchup at UTEP. Tip-off is schedled for 3 p.m. (CT).
The Roadrunners (6-10, 1-3 C-USA) have struggled to find their groove of late, as they have dropped their last two contests.
In its last time out, UTSA dropped a 79-74 road decision at Louisiana Tech. Tesha Smith poured in a career-high 20 points off the bench while two other Roadrunners scored in double figures.
UTSA is averaging 60.2 points a night but it boasts the league’s third-best scoring defense at 59.1 points a game. The Roadrunners also rank among the top five in C-USA in blocks (3.9 bpg) and steals (10.6 spg).
UTEP (8-5, 3-1 C-USA), winners of five of its last six contests, is coming off a 71-59 victory against Southern Miss. The Miners are scoring 68.2 points per game and allowing 64.1 an outing.
Cameasha Turner leads UTEP's season box score with 13.6 points per game and team-bests of 78 rebounds and 30 steals.
UTSA leads the all-time series, 16-9, but it has lost the last three meetings. The Roadrunners' last victory against the Miners came on Dec. 4, 2004, in El Paso.
