SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will be in search of the program’s 500th victory on Thursday night when it hosts Southern Miss at 7 p.m.
The Roadrunners (6-6, 1-1 C-USA) picked up win No. 499 and their first Conference USA road triumph last Sunday at North Texas. Jeromie Hill led the squad with a season-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting and a 4-of-5 mark behind the arc. Ryan Bowie and Keon Lewis added 16 points apiece for UTSA and the trio is averaging nearly 45 points per game this season.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles (5-7, 0-1 C-USA) will look to avoid an 0-2 start to C-USA play and snap a four-game losing skid. Southern Miss opened conference action last weekend with an 83-70 loss against Louisiana Tech last Saturday. Matt Bingaya leads the team at 15.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while reigning C-USA Player of the Week Chip Armelin checks in at 12.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per outing.
The contest, which is just the second meeting between the teams, will be broadcast on the American Sports Network with Ron Thulin (play-by-play) and Chris Walker (analysis) calling the action.
