Roadrunners to head north to Lubbock for Athletes In Action Classic

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will make its final road trip of calendar year this weekend when they head to Lubbock for the Athletes in Action Classic, which will be hosted by Texas Tech from Dec. 19-21 at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Roadrunners (4-3) will open the three-day event at 3 p.m. on Friday with Houston (3-5). UTSA then will take on the host Red Raiders (6-2) at 2 p.m. the following day before closing out tournament play on Sunday with an 11 a.m. contest against former Souhtland Conference foe Nicholls (3-4).

The Roadrunners enters the weekend in the middle of the pack in scoring in Conference USA with 60.6 points a night, but they boast the best scoring defense in the league at 53.9 points an outing.

Senior Kamra King leads the pack with 13.3 points per game with a team-leading 17 assists to go along with 16 steals.

Meanwhile, Mannasha Bell is averaging eight points and seven rebounds per game and the junior leads the team with 18 steals and is shooting 56 percent (19-of-34) from the field.

UTSA last played Houston and Nicholls in 2012 and its last meeting with Texas Tech came in 2010. All three last meetings resulted in losses for the Roadrunners.
