SAN ANTONIO — Two days after picking up its second consecutive victory, UTSA will welcome I-35 rival Texas State to the Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday.
It will mark the 62nd all-time meeting between the two schools with the Roadrunners holding a 31-30 advantage in the series. UTSA has won 10 of the last 11 matchups after escaping with an 86-83 win last season in San Marcos.
The Roadrunners (4-2) are off to their best start since the 2012-13 season when they in their only year in the Western Athletic Conference.
UTSA is averaging 61.8 points an outing and yielding a league-best 53.3 points per game, which ranks 24th in the nation. Along the perimeter, UTSA is second in Conference USA allowing opponents to shoot only 21 percent from downtown, which is 10th best in the country.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats (2-3) are coming off last Saturday's 64-37 loss at No. 19 Oklahoma State and they have yet to win a game on the road this season.
Texas State is eighth in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring offense (66.4) but it is allowing 68.6 per game. The Bobcats lead the league in 3-point field goal percentage at 41 percent.
