SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will hold a food drive sponsored by Whataburger prior to Saturday's North Texas football game scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Alamodome.
Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to drop in donation bins that will be located in Rowdy Town in the North Plaza prior to the Roadrunners' last home contest of the season. Monetary donations also are encouraged and accepted. All items will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank.
Anyone who donates a minimum of two non-perishable food items or makes a monetary donation will receive one coupon for a free Whataburger (while supplies last).
According to the San Antonio Food Bank, nearly one out of every four children and one out of every five adults in Southwest Texas lives in poverty and has difficulty meeting basic nutritional needs. Sixty-five percent of the people requesting emergency food have children. UTSA and Whataburger are proud to serve this cause and encourage fans to donate to help those in need.
