Ianno tabbed Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday

IRVING — Sean Ianno was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday.

Ianno booted the fifth game-winning field goal of his career and second this season, a 38-yarder with two seconds remaining, to propel UTSA to a come-from-behind 12-10 victory against Southern Miss last Thursday night at the Alamodome. The senior from Pflugerville finished the night with four field goals, his third such performance during a four-year career that saw him join the Roadrunners following their first open walk-on tryout back in Fall 2010. He connected from 41 and 28 yards in the second quarter and 35 yards three minutes after halftime.

Ianno, who previously was honored by the conference on Oct. 13, now is 17-of-21 (81 percent) this season and he has connected on 15 of his last 17 attempts after opening the campaign just 2-of-4.
