Roadrunners to host McMurry in Saturday exhibition game

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host the first of two exhibition games on Saturday when it welcomes McMurry to the Convocation Center for a 2 p.m. contest.

The Roadrunners are coming off a 14-win season that saw head coach Lubyomyr Lichonczak in his first season at the helm. UTSA returns four starters from last season’s lineup, including leading scorer Kamra King. The Norman, Okla., native is seeking to be the first player in program history to lead the team in scoring in each of her seasons donning the Roadrunners’ navy blue and orange.

King, who is one of two seniors on the squad, averaged 13.6 points an outing last season, which ranked 15th in Conference USA. She also added 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Fellow senior Ashley Spaletta was third on the team in scoring with 7.4 points per contest, while grabbing 4.7 boards per game and she also notched 46 steals.

UTSA will welcome three newcomers to its roster this season, as freshmen Crystal Chidomere and Carlie Heineman join junior college transfer Pearl Johnson are first-year Roadrunners.

McMurry is coming off a 3-23 season that saw it average 55.6 points per outing.

UTSA will host Howard Payne in another exhibition next Saturday, Nov. 8, before opening the season at Texas on the following weekend (Nov. 15).
