DENTON — Mike Medrano raced to a 16th-place performance and he led the UTSA men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at Saturday's Conference USA Championships.
Medrano covered the 8,000-meter Eagle Point Cross Country Course in 25:05.8 and the senior from Mission was the Roadrunners' top finisher for the fifth time this fall.
Javier Salas (33rd/25:40.9), Harvinder Singh (35th/25:48.2), Tony Jaramillo (51st/26:15.0) and Nolawie Teshome (52nd/26:15.7) rounded out UTSA's scoring contingent.
Meet host North Texas captured the team title with 50 points, while UTEP (58) and Middle Tennessee (67) rounded out the top three. The Roadrunners netted 177 points en route to their seventh-place finish.
Meanwhile, UTEP's Anthony Rotich won the event for the third consecutive year in 24:04.4.
UTSA will return to the course on Friday, Nov. 14, at the NCAA South Central Regional in Fayetteville, Ark.
