UTSA men to compete at Saturday's Conference USA Championships

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will begin the postseason on Saturday morning when it competes at the Conference USA Championships in Denton. The 8,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at North Texas' Eagle Point Cross Country Course. A new team champion will be crowned this year, as Tulsa, which has won the last four C-USA titles, has moved on to the American Athletic Conference.

The Roadrunners have won eight league crowns in program history. UTSA captured five consecutive Trans America Athletic Conference Championships from 1986-90 and later won three straight Southland titles from 1995-97. UTSA finished seventh in its first apearance at the C-USA Championships a year ago.

Mike Medrano finished as the team's top performer for the fourth consecutive meet two weeks ago at the Crimson Classic. The senior from Mission placed 27th after circling the 8,000-meter Harry Pritchett Running Course in 25:43.38.
