SAN ANTONIO — Katherine Tesno recorded a career-high 10 saves as UTSA and Florida Atlantic played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at Park West Athletics Complex.
Happy Orere-Amadu led the Roadrunners (5-10-2, 1-7-1 C-USA) with six shots, while Charlotte Husoe provided the home squad with its lone goal.
Meanwhile, Sydney Drinkwater made six stops for the Owls (7-8-4, 2-4-3 C-USA), who registered 20 shots in the contest.
UTSA came out aggressive in the first half and out-shot Florida Atlantic, 8-5, over the first 45 minutes.
Husoe put the Roadrunners ahead in the 23rd minute with a high shot from about 25 yards out on a free kick. The winner was her second of the fall and it gave UTSA a 1-0 lead that it would hold for most of the match.
In the second half, the Owls churned out 11 shots and kept the pressure on Tesno and the UTSA defense.
The visitors finally broke through in the 87th minute, when Dani Dangremond found Asta Arnadottir for a long shot from about 35 yards out that slipped past Tesno for the equalizer.
The Owls had a chance in the final minute of the first overtime, when Arnadottir put another shot on an empty UTSA net. Kauwela Neal saved the match for the Roadrunners with a running kick just before the ball crossed the goal line.
The teams combined for three shots in a scoreless second overtime to give UTSA its second draw of the campaign.
The Roadrunners will close the season against Southern Miss (5-9-3, 0-5-3 C-USA) at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Park West Athletics Complex. UTSA will honor its senior class prior to the match.
