DENTON — Stephanie Wangui raced to a seventh-place finish to pace the UTSA women's cross country squad at Saturday's Ken Garland Invitational.
The senior from Leander covered the Eagle Point Cross Country Course 5,000-meter trail in 18:05.4 and she finished as the Roadrunners' top performer for the second time in three meets this fall.
Emily Perez placed 12th in 18:32.5, while Grace Kohler (20:03.1/47th), Kerstin Sheehan (20:15.2/50th) and Brianna Mendiola (20:49.2/54th) rounded out UTSA's scorers.
The Roadrunners placed sixth in the team standings with 138 points. Rice cruised to the team title with 35 behind individual champion Cali Roper (17:29.1) and she was one of three Owls that finished in the top four. No. 24 SMU (52) and meet host North Texas (75) rounded out the top three.
UTSA will return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the UIW Invitational.
