SAN ANTONIO — Mike Medrano finished in fourth place to lead the Roadrunners men's cross country team at Friday's UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic.
The senior from Mission covered the 5,000-meter course in 15:57.7 to finish as the squad's top performer for the second consecutive meet to open the campaign.
Javier Salas (16:07.7) and Nolawie Teshome (16:10.4) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, while Saul Vasquez (16:25.7/10th) and Harvinder Singh (16:42.4/11th) rounded out the Roadrunners' scorers.
Texas, led by individual champion Robert Uhr (15:29.1), successfully defended its team title with 25 points, while UTSA accumulated 36 to finish second among Division I teams.
The Roadrunners will return to the course next Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Ken Garland Invitational in Denton.
