SAN ANTONIO — The men's cross country team will return to the course for the first time in three weeks on Friday evening when it hosts the annual UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic. The 5,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the National Shooting Complex off Culebra Road (2 Gass Road; San Antonio, TX 78253).
The Roadrunners will welcome four other Division I schools — Incarnate Word, Prairie View A&M, defending meet champion Texas and Texas Southern — along with non-Division I programs Butler (Kan.) Community College, Southwest Texas Junior College, Sul Ross State, Tarleton State, Texas-Permian Basin, Texas A&M-International, Texas Lutheran and Trinity to the meet and nearly 100 student-athletes will make up the field.
Admission is free and directions to the course can be found in the related links box toward the top right of this release.
Mike Medrano captured the third individual title of his career and the senior from Mission helped lead the Roadrunners to a second-place team finish at the season-opening Alamo City Opener back on Aug. 29. Medrano covered the Live Oak City Park 6,000-meter loop in 19:04.74 to easily outdistance runner-up James Leonard of Texas State by nearly eight seconds.
