UTSA unveils remainder of 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men’s basketball coach Brooks Thompson unveiled the remainder of his program’s 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday. The Roadrunners previously announced their Conference USA slate on Aug. 7.

In all, the ledger will see UTSA with 15 home games, while the squad will play a dozen tilts against teams from the Lone Star State.

“Our coaches and student-athletes are excited for the upcoming season,” said Thompson, who will being his ninth season on UTSA’s bench this season. “Each year we’re looking to put together a schedule that will challenge us, help our team improve and get ready for the conference season and I believe this accomplishes all of those things.”

The Roadrunners will host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 6 in their lone exhibition contest before opening the regular season with five consecutive matchups at the Convocation Center.

The stretch starts on Nov. 14 when UTSA opens its 34th season of play by hosting Huston-Tillotson. The Roadrunners then will welcome Texas-Pan American (Nov. 17), I-35 rival Texas State (Nov. 22), Loyola-Chicago (Nov. 25) and Southern Utah (Nov. 30) to the Alamo City.

UTSA will follow that up with four straight road contests beginning with a Dec. 3 matchup at Northern Arizona. The Birds will then head to the Pacific Northwest and a Dec. 6 game at Washington State before tilts at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 15) and TCU (Dec. 20).

The Roadrunners will host Cameron on Dec. 30 before opening C-USA play on the road at Rice (Jan. 2) and North Texas (Jan. 4). Following home contests against Southern Miss (Jan. 8) and Louisiana Tech (Jan. 10), UTSA will play its final non-conference game when it travels south for another matchup with Texas-Pan American (Jan. 12).

Other home conference matchups include UTEP (Jan. 17), Middle Tennessee (Jan. 29), UAB (Jan. 31), Old Dominion (Feb. 12), Charlotte (Feb. 14), Rice (March 5) and North Texas (March 7).

Meanwhile, UTSA will hit the road to face Marshall (Jan. 22), Western Kentucky (Jan. 24), FIU (Feb. 5), Florida Atlantic (Feb. 7), UTEP (Feb. 21), Southern Miss (Feb. 26) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 28).

The league’s top 12 teams will vie for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at the C-USA Tournament, which will be held March 11-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
