SAN ANTONIO — UTSA recently added two players to its professional baseball lineage, as right-handers Wes Cox and Ryan Talley each agreed to free agent deals with the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, respectively.
It also was announced that junior catcher John Bormann, who was drafted in the 19th round by the Angels, would return for his senior season.
Cox, a senior relief pitcher from Rockwall, was a vital member of the Roadrunners bullpen this past season, as he tossed 55.1 innings with a 2.28 ERA. He ranked second among relief pitchers with 49 strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .238 batting average.
Meanwhile, the Angels signed Talley, who was injured for two seasons, after a workout this summer. He appeared in one game this past spring, striking out two in one inning of work.
