Bormann named to Conference USA's All-Academic Team

IRVING — John Bormann was one of 10 student-athletes named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the league office announced on Monday.

The Seguin native is a business major that carries a 3.76 GPA. He earned a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and was a member of the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll. Bormann has been on the Dean's List every semester at UTSA, as well as the President's List.

The junior catcher is a two‐time Johnny Bench Award Watch List member (2013-14) and he leads the conference with 13 pickoffs and also has thrown out 22 attempted base stealers. He is batting .271 with 11 doubles, four home runs and 20 RBIs this spring.

No. 7 seed UTSA (32-24) will take on second-seeded UAB (35-19) at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the opening round of the C-USA Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. ​
