SAN ANTONIO — Four UTSA errors led to two unearned runs and Lamar salvaged a split of this week's two-game series with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday at Roadrunner Field.
Jude Vidrine led Lamar by goung 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Cardinals (27-18) scored the first run in the top of the first inning when Brandon Provost reached on an error, which plated Reed Seeley.
Vidrine extend the lead to 2-0 in the top of the sixth after drawing a bases loaded walk and bringing in Jake Sutton from third.
UTSA (28-18) cut the deficit in half in the next half inning with a pinch-hit RBI single to left by Andre Vieyra. Mike Warren, who was 2-for-4, scored on the play.
Lamar regained a two-run edge in the top of the seventh when Sam Bumpers scored on a double play. Bumpers reached earlier in the frame on a dropped fly ball.
The Roadrunners staged a final comeback bid in the ninth after reliever Jeremy Filipek struck out five of the final six batters he faced in the eighth and ninth innings.
RJ Perucki singled home John Welborn with two outs, but he was left stranded to end the game.
UTSA will travel to Middle Tennessee (22-22, 11-10 C-USA) for a three-game series that begins at 6 p.m. on Friday.
