SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to the friendly confines of Roadrunner Field and break free from a four-way tie for second place in the Conference USA standings this weekend when it hosts Marshall in a three-game series that begins at 6 p.m. on Friday. The series will continue with a 2 p.m. tilt on Saturday and conclude at 10:30 a.m. the next morning.
UTSA (22-11, 8-4 C-USA) has won three of its last four outings following Tuesday’s 10-2, triumph at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Brock Hartson and Justin Anderson book-ended last weekend's series victory at Tulane with complete game victories on the hill and the two hurlers did not allow an earned run, while striking out 17 and issuing just two walks. Offensively, Mike Warren will bring a 27-game consecutive reached base streak into the weekend. The senior has reached base in all but one contest this season and is tied for the league lead with 34 RBIs.
UTSA will be matching up with the Thundering Herd for the first-time ever. It will also be the Roadrunners' first meeting against a team from the state of West Virginia.
Marshall (13-18, 7-7 C-USA) enters as one of the league’s hottest teams, as the Thundering Herd has a 7-2 record over its last nine contests.
