SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will make its Conference USA debut against fellow 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Florida Atlantic this weekend when it hosts a three-game series at Roadrunner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday.
UTSA (9-4) has won four of its past five outings, including Wednesday’s come-from-behind effort against Texas-Pan American. Mike Warren delivered the game-winning walk-off single with two outs in the ninth, as the Roadrunners scored five unanswered runs en route to the 6-5 victory.
The matchup with the Owls (10-3) features two programs with similar statistical profiles. Both teams have been equally good in the batters box as they have on the mound. UTSA holds a slight edge with a .304 batting average compared to a .290 mark for FAU, while the Owls sport a 2.42 ERA, which is slightly lower than UTSA’s 2.49.
This weekend will mark the first all-time meetings between the two programs.
