SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will play a pair of midweek contests against Incarnate Word and Texas-Pan American on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, before making its Conference USA debut this weekend. First pitch with the Cardinals (3-8) is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday and the Roadrunners will host the Broncs (6-6) at 4 p.m. the following day.
UTSA (7-4) is coming off a series victory against South Dakota State. Jesse Baker was rewarded for his performance with the C-USA Hitter of the Week honors on Monday after going 8-for-18 (.444) with a 1.000 slugging percentage in four games last week. Meanwhile, Brock Hartson racked up a career-high nine strikeouts in eight innings of work in Friday’s series-opening victory.
The Roadrunners have split 16 all-time meetings with Incarnate Word, but they were victorious by a score of 22-7 in the last meeting back on April 29, 1997.
UTSA has squared off with UTPA more than any other opponent in program history and it holds a 52-30 lead in the all-time series, including the last three.
