SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to the diamond on Wednesday when it hosts Houston Baptist in a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Roadrunner Field.
The Roadrunners (13-17) are coming off last Wednesday's 3-2 victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and they have won four consecutive home games. Megan Low continues to lead UTSA with a .353 batting average, Conference USA-leading 11 home runs and 25 RBIs. Meanwhile, Jori Fox has been the second-best run producer for the Birds with a career-high 19 RBIs. She tossed the first six innings of the contest and yielded a pair of unearned runs before Chelsea Parker recorded the final three outs for her first save.
Meanwhile, the Huskies (9-14) have won four straight games, including a three-game sweep of Southeastern Louisiana last weekend. Picked to finish eighth by Southland Conference head coaches, Houston Baptist is off to a 5-4 start in league play and it will be playing its first non-conference game since a 10-5 setback at UTEP on Feb. 22. Shay Orsak leads the team, which is hitting .294, with a .427 batting average to go along with 10 doubles and 19 RBIs. In the circle, Emily Mueller is 5-3 with a 2.88 ERA, while Kendall Stiefel leads the team with 46 strikeouts.
