FRISCO — The Southland Conference, as part of its year-long 50th Anniversary commemoration, announced its all-time men’s outdoor track & field honor roll.
The list includes 119 elite student-athletes in the sport going back to the league's initial outdoor season of 1964. Six head coaches also were recognized for their historic contributions to the sport.
"Outdoor track & field has always been outstanding from the very early days of the Southland Conference all the way to today," Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "With the number of Olympians and NCAA Champions, you could actually make the argument that it's been our most successful sport at the highest levels of competition."
The Southland selected the performers that had multiple accomplishments during their careers, including numerous conference championships won, records set, National Championships, as well as participation in international and Olympic competition.
UT Arlington led with 14 selections, while UTSA had seven.
Devon Bond, Larry Brooks, Leonard Byrd, Richard Garrett Jr., David Hartman, Keyunta Hayes and Teddy Williams were the seven Roadrunners honored, while Aaron Fox was one of the six head coaches recognized.
