IRVING — Tesha Smith was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Smith continued her torrid month of February with back-to-back double-doubles last week, as she averaged 14 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 56.3 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.
The center from San Antonio was the difference in Thursday's 61-60 victory against East Carolina with a team-high 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. She also connected on 10-of-12 shots at the free-throw line and grabbed five offensive rebounds in the UTSA victory.
Smith followed up her career night with her fourth double-double of the season in Saturday's loss to Old Dominion, registering 10 points and 11 rebounds (four offensive).
UTSA will return to action on Wednesday night at UTEP (21-5, 10-3 C-USA).
