UTSA women to continue road trip this weekend in Bayou State

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will continue its five-match road trip this weekend in the Bayou State when it faces Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Roadrunners will face the Warhawks at 1:30 p.m. at Raymond Heard Stadium before squaring off with the Lady Demons at 10 a.m. the following morning at Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

UTSA (4-5) split matches in Birmingham, Ala., last weekend at Samford and UAB. The Roadrunners dropped a 6-1 decision to the Bulldogs on Saturday, but they bounced back and swept the Blazers the following day.

After having a perfect weekend, Jacobea Junger extended her singles winning streak to four, but Miriam Rosell Canudas still leads the team in with six singles victories this spring.

ULM (3-1) picked up its third win of the season with a 4-3 road triumph at New Orleans on Monday. The Warhawks were 15-4 last season and undefeated at home.

Meanwhile, Northwestern State (2-3), which was ranked to start the season, won their first two matches of the year but the Lady Demons were blanked by both Auburn and LSU last weekend, which extended their losing streak to three matches. The Roadrunners' former Southland Conference foe will look to get back on track on Saturday when it hosts Louisiana-Lafayette before hosting UTSA.
