UTSA to face No. 69 Samford, UAB this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — Fresh off victories against St. Edward's and Trinity last Saturday, the UTSA men's tennis team will return to the court to face No. 69 Samford and UAB this weekend in Birmingham, Ala.

The Roadrunners (2-3) will play the Bulldogs (1-3) at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Samford Tennis Center. They then will travel across the city two days later to match up against the Conference USA Blazers (2-3) at 11 a.m. at George Ward Park in what technically is a non-conference match since C-USA does not play an official league schedule during the regular season.

UTSA posted a 6-1 victory against NCAA Division II No. 25 St. Edward's in its home opener last Saturday and followed that with a 4-3 win over NCAA Division III No. 8 Trinity later that afternoon. The junior doubles team of Joel Rubio and Tomas Stillman remained undefeated at 4-0 this season with a pair of wins in that doubleheader and they debuted at No. 16 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings this week, the highest ranking in program history.
