INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA announced Tuesday that McKenzie Adams is the 2013-14 Division I statistical champion for kills per set.
On her way to leading UTSA to the Conference USA regular season and tournament titles and the third NCAA Tournament berth in program history, Adams averaged a nation best 5.78 kills per set.
The senior from Schertz was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and a third-team AVCA All-American following the season.
The player of the year award marked Adams fourth superlative award in four seasons in four different conferences, a first in NCAA history. As a freshman at the University of Virginia, Adams was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the year. After transferring to UTSA she claimed Newcomer of the Year honors in the Southland Conference before picking up Player of the Year nods in both the Western Athletic Conference as a junior and Conference USA this past season.
Adams is currently completing her collegiate eligibility as a member of the UTSA women’s basketball team this semester.
